Jeremy Lyons

Jeremy Lyons is a storyteller musician with a folksy sound that is a mixture of rock, country & blues. He is local to Somerset, KY. His unnamed band has been affectionately referred to as “Jeremy and the Spawn” due to his love of making and performing music with his children, most notably his Son/Bassist, Orion Lyons.

Born and raised in Somerset, KY, music was always around for Jeremy. His father played bass and guitar from long before he was born. Music was ever present growing up and many of his family members are great musicians in their own right. Jeremy had a band in his teenage years, gigging around quite a bit, most notably playing in churches for youth groups. Then, later on and along with Orion, leading worship in a few different churches. Jeremy says "I enjoy playing music with my kids, especially when we play live. The thing that brings me the most joy though, is that I have written songs that my kids actually like. That brings a sense of accomplishment that is hard to match." Jeremy adds, "My family has gone through a pretty rough shakeup in the last few years which was brought me back to making music. It is my therapy, and I feel like maybe if I can write out my feelings into a song then it might help someone else to not feel alone in their heartache." When asked about being in such a inspiring environment with deep with talent, Jeremy commented "Even though my music is my therapy it has also enabled me to meet so many awesome and beautiful people in our local music community, and I wouldn't trade that for the world. It is always so nice to see new faces pop up on the scene and bring a new sound and flavor. We are truly blessed to be in an area that is rich in musical and artistic culture." Mill Springs Studio could not agree more.

Somerset, Kentucky was first settled in 1798 by Thomas Hansford and received its name from Somerset County, New Jersey, where some of the early settlers had formerly lived. Somerset became the Pulaski County seat in 1801, and was incorporated as a city in 1887. A Civil War battle was fought in January 1862 at Mill Springs (now "Nancy") about 8 miles west of Somerset, and a museum is at the site. In addition to the several artisan markets and vibrant music scene, nearby Lake Cumberland is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world (101 miles in length, with an average depth of 85 feet). Somerset is also near Cumberland Falls and the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. We encourage you to visit www.seesomerset.com & www.lctourism.com to plan your adventure today!
